Well, there goes a safety test conducted by Daimler to promote their Smart’s tridion cells safe impact protection of the passenger zones. I guess there still needs to be some solid independent view to assess the real outcome of a head-on collision.
Two things to overcome. (1) the safety psychology of a tiny short hooded car, comparatively, and the (2) weight of the vcar during windy or stormy moments. If weight is anything to go by in the absence of some new high-tech countermeasures for balance, then how would Smart compare to a real midsized sedan at the same price?
Don’t get me wrong, I love the smart for it’s efficiency and city-scape ease of use. But you’d understand that there are more chances of meeting a crazy cab driver in the city than on an intercity highway, right?
