Robot butterflies, dogs unveiled at Intelligent robots of the future were revealed at a tech conference in Jinan City, east China’s Shandong Province on Thursday.
The two-day 2016 China Intelligent Manufacturing International Conference brought together Chinese and German experts and scholars in the field to deliver speeches at interactive forums regarding current and future trends within the industry.
According to experts, an intelligent butterfly with hundreds of sensors weighs only 30 grams, and can transmit messages to others to avoid collision during their flights. A robot dog with flexible joints can make complex movements such as rolling, hopping and sitting-up.
“When robot dogs become more advanced, they can adapt well to complex terrain including stairs,” said Zhang Chen, an exhibitor.
Compared with traditional manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing integrates many high technologies including intelligent control, modern sensor technology, big data and cloud computing. This will give intelligent products a certain degree of self-perception, self-determinism and excellent execution, allowing them to move and act in increasingly complex ways.
“A vehicle needs an engine and a driver, but now we replace the driver with a tiny electronic brain,” said Li Deyi, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
