There is a growing concern that perhaps the days of Microsoft as a software giant may come to an end within 10 years. Already China is thinking of developing it’s own operating system and OpenSource is successfully eating into the proprietary office application space, a supposed strong and profitable space for Microsoft.
If the business model of Microsoft fails to adopt a new model of software associated services and products the end will be nigh earlier than anticipated. Combined with the ongoing changes in business focus, planned laying-off of 18,000 in headcount something is clearly not adding up about the health status of MS.
